Training Seminar for OIE Delegates

Rationale of the Seminar

The objective of the seminar was to provide all relevant information on OIE mandates and activities, as well as its operating procedures so as to help CVOs/Delegate clearly understand their rights and responsibilities at international and national levels, and interact efficiently with OIE headquarters, OIE Regional Commission and Regional Representation. It aimed in particular at improving participation in the OIE standard-setting process, increasing the transparency of sanitary information and fostering implementation of OIE standards and guidelines at national level as well as with trading partners.
In addition, this seminar was used as a Pilot Seminar to contribute to harmonise training activities targeting Delegates (in particular those newly nominated) in all regions of the world through the organisation of Regional Seminars on a regular basis. Therefore, representatives from the OIE Collaborating Centres concerned attended the seminar and helped build a harmonised training module with tools that would be translated in all three official languages of OIE to be further used when organising training sessions for the OIE Delegates of each region.
