This heading contains information on changes in the Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) situation worldwide.

Information is grouped in two categories:

• Information on the number of BSE cases reported in the United Kingdom and in the world (excluding the United Kingdom) in imported or indigenous cattle, and Countries/Territories that have reported BSE cases in imported animals only ;
• The second category provides information on annual incidence rate of BSE, by country, since 1989.
