Simulation Exercise: Anthrax in Australia

Dr Mark Schipp, Chief Veterinary Officer, Department of Agriculture, Canberra, Australia, informed the OIE that a simulation exercise on Anthrax will take place at Attwood and Tatura, in the State of Victoria on 27 November 2013.

The exercise is an annual refresher anthrax training for staff of the Department of Environment and Primary Industries Victoria.

The aim of this simulation exercise is to:

  • ensure staff are familiar with the response to a potential anthrax case,
  • provide training in the information management system and
  • test equipment for communications between the incident control centre and a regional office.
