Simulation exercise: Highly pathogenic avian influenza in Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region of the People's Repubic of China)

Dr Thomas Sit, Assistant Director (Inspection and Quarantine) Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) of Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China), informed the OIE that a simulation exercise was conducted on 18 December 2007 to test its preparedness in responding to an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in local poultry farms.

This exercise named "Daisy" provided a mimic scenario for all concerned parties to familiarise themselves with the new preparation procedures and additional biosecurity measures for poultry farms. It focused on the overall planning, preparation and implementation of stamping out operations.
