Simulation exercise: Swine exotic diseases in Brazil

Dr Guilherme Henrique Figueiredo Marques, Director of Department of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of Brazil, informed the OIE that a table-top and field simulation exercise on swine exotic diseases will take place in the municipality of Porto Alegre, State of Rio Grande do Sul from 6 to 10 August 2018.

The objective of the exercise is to practice and test the alert capacity, the organisation of an early warning response as well as the management and organisation of the Official Veterinary Services in accordance with the guidelines of the National Swine Health Programme. The simulation exercise will allow the review of theoretical aspects and practical training related to diagnostic, collection of samples, epidemiological investigation, traceability, biosafety as well as procedures of containment and eradication of swine exotic diseases.
