The Director General of the OIE celebrates the World Veterinary Day in Washington

The Director General of the OIE, Dr. Bernard Vallat will attend the 13th Inter-American Meeting on Health and Agriculture (RIMSA 13), to be held at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Headquarters in Washington, D.C., from 24 to 25 April 2003.

While speaking  about the increasing role of the OIE in animal health and food safety, he will also emphasise the role of   the modern veterinarian in veterinary public health. In view of the implementation of the agreement between the OIE and PAHO, Dr. Vallat and the Director of PAHO, Dr. Mirta Roses Periago will be speaking with one voice about the cooperation of the two organizations with regard to animal health and food safety.

Taking advantage of the presence of all the Ministers of Health and the Ministers of Agriculture of the 35 countries of the Americas, Dr. Vallat will officially celebrate the World Veterinary Day on the 26 April 2003, an event celebrating the contribution of the veterinary profession to society.

A press conference will be jointly organized by the Director of PAHO and the Director General of the OIE at PAHO Headquarters in Washington during the meeting.
