This report is the summary of the discussions that took place during the 78th General Session of the World Assembly of Delegates of the OIE in May 2010. It summarises in particular:

• the activities and work of the Standard-Setting Bodies of the OIE during the past year as well as of the Working Groups

• the world health situation

• the reports of the activities of and discussions that took place during the conferences of the OIE Regional Commissions

• the discussions on the Technical Item “a private sector perspective on private standards – some approaches that could help to reduce current and potential future conflicts between public and private standards”. The summary of the discussions are given

• the adoption of the 5th Strategic Plan of the OIE for the period 2011–2015
