OFFICIAL DISEASE STATUS > CLASSICAL SWINE FEVER (CSF)

Classical swine fever (CSF) is a highly contagious viral disease of domestic and wild swine. The disease occurs in much of Asia, Central and South America, and parts of Europe and Africa.

The Terrestrial Animal Health Code (Chapter 15.2.) provides the requirements that need to be fulfilled by a Member Country to be included in the list of CSF free Member Countries. A questionnaire was developed in line with Chapter 15.2. to assist Member Countries in the preparation and compilation of dossiers for evaluation by the Scientific Commission for Animal Diseases. Member Countries seeking official recognition of CSF free status must comply with the requirements laid out in Chapter 15.2. of the Terrestrial Code and submit to the OIE the information requested by the questionnaire contained in Article 1.6.10.

The procedure for official recognition of CSF status was adopted in May 2013. However, the applications for the recognition of CSF status started to be evaluated during the following annual cycle from May 2014 to May 2015. Therefore, the first list of Member Countries with a CSF free status officially recognised by the OIE will be available on the web site after May 2015.
