Scientific and Technical Review

'There have been a considerable number of exellent reviews originating from the International Office of Epizootics'. British Veterinary Journal

The Scientific and Technical Review is a periodical publication containing scientific information that is updated constantly. The Review plays a significant role in fulfilling some of the priority functions of the OIE. This peer-reviewed journal contains in-depth studies devoted to current scientific and technical developments in animal health and veterinary public health worldwide, food safety, animal welfare, and wildlife. The Review benefits from the advice of an Editorial Board and a Scientific Advisory Board composed of top scientists from across the globe.

The Review will be of interest to officers of Veterinary Services, research scientists, biologists, field veterinarians, decision-makers in animal (terrestrial and aquatic animals) health services, animal health and production scientists, staff of faculties of veterinary and related sciences (medicine, biology, agronomy, aquaculture, food science) and all those involved in animal production, transformation and distribution. Indeed, the particular distinction of this publication lies in relating specialised research to the practical problems encountered in safeguarding animal health and veterinary public health, which is essential for the improvement of animal production and the protection of public health.

Two of the three issues of the Review published each year are devoted to a specific theme, while the third issue is reserved for a selection of papers submitted spontaneously by authors from around the globe. Each thematic issue is co-ordinated by at least one internationally-renowned expert in the relevant field, and articles are written by a range of top world specialists who are able to give a privileged insight into the theme presented. Authors wishing to submit a paper for publication in the Review are invited to consult the Instructions to Authors.

Articles may be written in any of the three official languages of our Organisation, namely: English, French or Spanish. All articles submitted in French or in Spanish are translated into English, and both versions are published in the Review. All article summaries are always published in all three languages.

Summaries of Review articles are posted in the OIE Online Bookshop, which also gives free access (starting from volume 20 [2] of 2001) to full text articles in PDF format after the hard copy has been published. To download the PDF version of an article, first click on its title (the summary and keywords will appear) and then on the PDF link at the bottom left-hand side of the box.
Articles from older issues of the Review will be posted online progressively. To consult those that are already freely available in PDF format, click on ‘List of issues of the Scientific and Technical Review.

The Review is indexed or abstracted in the following databases: Agris (FAO, Italy), Animal Science (CABI databases, United Kingdom), Biological Abstracts (BioSciences Information Service), BIOSIS Previews (United States of America), CAB Abstracts (Index Veterinarius; Veterinary Bulletin), Current Contents® / Agriculture, Biology and Environmental Sciences (ISI) (United States of America), Fish and Wildlife Worldwide, Focus On®: Veterinary Science & Medicine (United States of America), Index Medicus, MEDLINE and SciSearch® (United States of America), Journal Citation Reports (ISI) Pascal (INIST), Pubmed, Science Citation Index, Web of Science (ISI), Zoological Record (United Kingdom).
