Management Committee

In accordance with Article 4 of the Appendix to Resolution N° XVII of May 2004, a Management Committee of the the World Animal Health and Welfare Fund was established. In February 2010, the OIE Council decided that the new Management Committee of the World Fund would be composed of:

  • The President of the Management Committee (the President of the World Assembly of Delegates), Dr Carlos A. Correa Messuti (Uruguay);
  • The Vice-President of the World Assembly of Delegates, Dr. Carlos Agrela Pinheiro (Portugal);
  • One representative from among the donor bodies to the World Fund. Given that Canada is one of the major World Fund donor bodies and in consideration of the fact that Dr. Evans is a Member of the Council and former auditor, the Council decided to reinstate Dr. Brian Evans (Canada) as the representative of the donor bodies.

The main responsibility of the Management Committee is to recommend, after review and assessment, the adoption of the programme and the annual accounts of the OIE World Fund and to transmit them to the OIE Council for endorsement and then presentation for final adoption by the OIE World Assembly of Delegates from the 178 OIE Members.

The Management Committee has convened in annual ordinary meetings on four occasions to date (February 2007, May 2008, 2009 and 2010). The next meeting will take place on 18 May 2011 at the OIE Headquarters in Paris.
