Epidemiological comments Up to 18 January 2013 a total of 76 poultry died in the affected area. Trace-back investigations revealed that there have been poultry deaths in the area from 14 January 2013 although they were not reported immediately to the local veterinary authorities. The disease was confirmed through real-time PCR at the National Veterinary Laboratory on 16 January 2013 when four carcasses were positive to tests. Subsequently, the disease was confirmed by HSADL (Bhopal, India) on 31 January 2013.
