Affected population The horses are kept within the boundaries of a game reserve and are constantly stabled. They are taken out of the stables only for exercise. The stables have mosquito nets and there is a mosquito control program. All horses were vaccinated against African horse sickness. The horses consist of different breeds and they are of mixed ages.

Epidemiological comments The stable is located in a game reserve where the horses are in close proximity to wild equids. Animals were provided with palliative care (anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic drugs).
