Affected population The owner of a backyard farm from the village of Mireni notified the territorial subdivision of the competent authority for food safety about the death of six pigs. Pigs had typical signs of African swine fever. Samples were taken on 7 June 2018 from the dead pigs and blood samples from the live pigs. Results were received from the Republican Center for Veterinary Diagnosis on 8 June 2018; the samples were found positive using real-time PCR. The dead and live pigs were destroyed.
