Simulation exercise: Avian influenza in Algeria

Dr Rachid Bouguedour, Director of Animal Health Services of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Algeria, informed the OIE that a simulation exercise on avian influenza will take place in his country on Wednesday 21 June 2006 in the "Wilaya" of El Tarf (extreme eastern part of Algeria). This "Wilaya" was chosen for its geographical position (in the border zone), the importance of its humid areas, the abundance of wildlife and the presence of commercial chicken and backyard flocks around the humid areas.

This simulation exercise will mobilise all stakeholders involved: Veterinary Services, local authorities, national police force, etc.
