Implementing stronger biosecurity to avoid disease spread to new areas
African swine fever and avian influenza are both viral animal diseases that have been severely affecting the planet throughout 2021 and early 2022. These have further highlighted the significant role of interactions between wildlife and domestic animals, as well as some incautious human behaviours in their dissemination. These were carefully examined in the global animal health situation report presented at the 89th General Session, which also reminded the importance of efficient biosecurity measures to mitigate disease impacts.

Global Burden of Animal Diseases
