Regional simulation exercise: Avian influenza in Nicaragua

Dr Marvin Rodríguez Gutierrez, Director of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development and Agrarian Reform, has informed the OIE that a Regional simulation exercise of avian influenza will take place in the Department of Granada, Nicaragua from 24 to 28 June 2013.

The exercise will be carried out with the support of the International Regional Organization for Plant Protection and Animal Health (OIRSA) and the Food and Poultry Producers Association (ANAPA).

Fourty Veterinarians from several countries of the Central American and Caribbean region such as: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama will participate to this exercise.

The aim of this simulation exercise is to train a technical team for a rapid response at regional level with the view to be able to implement preventive actions for avian influenza.
