Simulation exercise: Acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease in Peru

10 to 12 December

Dr Eva Luz Martínez Bermúdez, Director General of Animal Health, National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA), Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Peru, informed the OIE that a field simulation exercise on acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (APHND), denominated “Primer Simulacro Nacional ante la Enfermedad de la Necrosis Hepatopancreática Aguda*” took place from 10 to 12 December 2019 in the city of Tumbes.

The objective of this simulation exercise, organized by the National Fisheries Health Agency – SANIPES, is to develop in a theoretical and practical way how to act during a real emergency facing acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND *), with the purpose of learning and exercising behaviors or habits for the response.

This simulation exercise is aimed at professionals from SANIPES and private sector of shrimp breeders.
