Simulation exercise: African swine fever in Germany and Poland

11 to 13 June

Dr Karin Schwabenbauer, Chief Veterinary Officer, Directorate of Animal Health and Animal Welfare, Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany and Dr Pawel Niemczuk, Chief Veterinary Officer, General Veterinary Inspectorate, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland informed the OIE that a joint cross-border simulation exercise on African swine fever (ASF) is taking place in the border region of the West Pomeranian voivodeship and the federal state of Mecklenburg –Western Pomerania from 11 to 13 June 2018.

The aim of the exercise is to test the timely, digital-technical exchange of information, including the visualisation of common restricted areas.

This exercise will involve all levels of government concerned, i.e. the local and national veterinary administration in Poland and Germany.
