Simulation exercise: African swine fever in Moldova

4 to 5 April

Mr Vsevolod Stamat, Deputy Director General, National Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Moldova, informed the OIE that a field simulation exercise on African swine fever (ASF) in wild boar will take place from 4 to 5 April 2018 in Ungheni District at the level of the Local Disease Control Centre (LDCC).

The aim of the exercise is to:

  • Test and evaluate the effectiveness of the contingency plan.
  • Improve the ability for organizations in charge of outbreaks management to combat epizootic diseases.
  • Test the speed of setting up the LDCC in crisis time.


Representatives from eight Territorial Food Safety subdivisions in the West part of the Republic of Moldova and from the National Group of Experts on ASF will attend this exercise.

This Simulation exercise is organized by the Veterinary Authority of Republic of Moldova and Twinning Project – MD 12 ENPI AG 01 16 “Support to the National Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Moldova”.
