Simulation exercise: African swine fever in Sweden

10 to 11 December

Dr Hakan Henrikson, Chief Veterinary Officer, Swedish Board of Agriculture, informed the OIE that a simulation exercise on African swine fever (ASF) codenamed “Gyllenborste” will take place from 10 to 11 December 2019 in Sweden.

The main objective of the exercise is to contribute to the overall goal: “Sweden has a good ability to manage an outbreak of African swine fever in Wild Boar, in order to maintain the Swedish pig production”.

The Swedish Board of Agriculture, the National Veterinary Institute, Swedish Food Agency, Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, The Swedish Forest Agency, Swedish Transport administration, County Administrative Board, Forestry, Hunters, Sweden’s Land Owners’ Association, private collaborators and others will take part in the exercise.

”Notably, Sweden is free of ASF and this is only an exercise.”
