Simulation exercise: Anthrax in Slovakia

Dr Jozef Bires, Director and Chief Veterinary Officer, State Veterinary and Food Administration, Ministry of Agriculture of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, informed the OIE that a simulation exercise on Anthrax, is taking place in Prešoc district, Slovakia, on 13 September 2012.

This simulation exercise will be conducted by the National Centre for Diseases Control of the Slovak Republic in collaboration with the Local Centre for Diseases Control in Prešoc and the State Veterinary Institute in Zvolen.

The main objective of this exercise is to practice coordinated procedure and cooperation of respective bodies for the eradication of an Anthrax outbreak and raise awareness and preparedness of the competent authorities and breeders in this area.
