Simulation exercise: Avian influenza in Costa Rica

Dr. José Joaquín Oreamuno Toledo, Director of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Production, Costa Rica, has informed the OIE that a simulation exercise on avian influenza will take place in his country from 5 to 8 April 2005.

The exercise is designed to verify the management capabilities of official Veterinary Services in dealing with a situation where an influenza outbreak affects Costa Rican commercial poultry flocks and Trade.

Officials from the Veterinary Services of Costa Rica, academic institutions, the Veterinary Medical Corporation, the OIRSA (Regional International Organization for Plant Protection and Animal Health) and representatives of private enterprises will take part in this exercise.
