Simulation exercise: Avian influenza in Dominican Republic

Dr Ángel Faxas Vargas, Director General for Animal Production, Secretariat of Agriculture of the Dominican Republic, informed the OIE that a simulation exercise on highly pathogenic avian influenza will take place from 23 to 26 October 2006 at the ISA⁽¹⁾ Head Office in Santiago de los Caballeros.

This exercise will be the first of several other simulation exercises to be implemented to strengthen the "contingency plan for prevention and control of the disease".

Official veterinarians from General Directorate of Livestock and other State institutions, private professionals from the poultry sector, producers as well as Official veterinarians from Central America, Cuba and Haiti will participate to this exercise.
