Simulation exercise: Avian influenza in Honduras-2

Dr José Lizardo Reyes Puerto, Director General of SENASA (National Service for Agriculture and Livestock), Honduras,, informed the OIE that a field simulation exercise on avian influenza will take place in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Yojoa in the Department of Cortés, in Honduras, from 10 to 14 August 2015.

The aim of this simulation exercise is to evaluate the National Contingency Plan for Prevention, Early Detection, Control and Eradication of Avian Influenza. An emphasis will be put on prevention as to identify strengths and possibilities of improvement with a view to ensure the avian health status of the country.

Public and private sectors will be represented during this simulation exercise which will also be used as an evaluation tool for the coordination between these two sectors when facing a threat of the occurrence of an avian influenza outbreak.
