30 March to 3 April

Dr Nihat Pakdil, Deputy Undersecretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey, informed the OIE that to maintain the response skills of the Veterinary Services, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry plans two-four (2-4) joint real-scale avian influenza simulation exercises in a year.

The objectives of the simulation exercise are to:

  • test the Avian Influenza Contingency Plan and train staff on its implementation;
  • test operational response arrangements;
  • examine the liaison and interdependencies between the key operational partners;
  • and consider the impact of the disease as a zoonotic infection.

For these purposes, the first simulation exercise for this year will be held in Tokat Province from 30 March to 3 April 2020.

This simulation exercise will take place with the participation of the provinces of the region and will include table-top and field exercises.
