Simulation Exercise: Classical swine fever in Guatemala-2

Dr Miguel Angel Azañon Robles, Head of Animal Health, Standards and Regulations Unit of Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food of Guatemala, informed the OIE that a regional simulation exercise of classical swine fever (CSF) will take place from 23 to 27 August 2010 in the city of Esquipulas, located in the region of El Trifinio where Guatemala, El Salvador y Honduras share a common border.

The aim of this field exercise, organized by OIRSA(*) with the support of PREFIP(**), is to reinforce the official veterinary services of the following countries: Belize, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua y Panamá through training and implementation of a single regional strategy, according to the OIE guidelines, for an immediate response in case of swine emerging diseases’ outbreak.
