Simulation exercise: Classical swine fever in Romania

Dr Niculae Lazar, Acting Director General, National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority of Romania, Bucharest, informed the OIE that a field simulation exercise on classical swine fever is taking place in Timi? County, Romania, at the Local Disease Control Centre (LDCC), from 19 to 20 June 2012.

The objectives of this simulation exercise are to:

  •  test and evaluate the effectiveness of the contingency plan,
  •  improve the ability of the organisations in charge of outbreak management to combat epizootic diseases,
  •  test the speed of setting up the LDCC in time of crisis.


Representatives from fourteen County Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Directorates (CSVFSD) of the West part of Romania as well as the National group of experts on CSF will participate to this exercise.
