Simulation exercise: Foot and mouth disease in Australia-18

Dr Mark Schipp, Chief Veterinary Officer, Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, Canberra, Australia, informed the OIE that a multi-agency simulation exercise, Exercise Team Spirit, will take place in Adelaide, South Australia on 16 October 2018.

Exercise Team Spirit will be run by Biosecurity South Australia and aims to provide strategic insight, for a range of government agencies, into foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and a response operation.

The exercise will be a desktop exercise and the scenario will be an evolving FMD outbreak in order to illustrate the magnitude and nature of the response, community impacts, and the involvement of multiple government agencies.
