Simulation exercise: Foot and mouth disease in Brazil-11

Dr Guilherme Henrique Figueiredo Marques, Director of Department of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of Brazil, informed the OIE that a theoretical-practical emergency simulation exercise on foot and mouth disease will take place in the municipality of Campos Novos, State of Santa Catarina, from 18 to 22 September 2017.
The objective of the exercise is to practice and test the alert capability, the organisation of an early response as well as the management and organisation of the Official Veterinary Services in accordance with the guidelines of the Foot and Mouth Disease Contingency Plan.  The simulation exercise will foster the theoretical review and practical training of aspects such as the diagnostic, the collection of samples, the epidemiological investigation, traceability, biosafety, the procedures of containment and eradication of foot and mouth disease.
