Simulation exercise: Foot and mouth disease in Brazil-14

21 to 25 October

Dr Geraldo Marcos De Moraes, Director of the Department of Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of Brazil, informed the OIE that a table-top and field simulation exercise on a foot and mouth disease emergency will take place in Macapá, in the State of Amapá, from 21 to 25 October 2019. The training is addressed to veterinarians of the Official Veterinary Service.

The objective of the exercise is to practice and test the alert capacity , the handling of the early response as well as the management and organisation of the Official Veterinary Services in accordance with the guidelines of the Contingency Plan for Foot and Mouth Disease.


The simulation exercise will allow the review of theoretical aspects and practical training related to diagnostic, collection of samples, epidemiological investigation, traceability, biosafety as well as procedures of containment and eradication of foot and mouth disease.
