Simulation exercise: Foot and mouth disease in Brazil-2

Dr Guilherme Henrique Figueiredo Marques, Director of Animal Health Department, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of Brazil, informed the OIE that a table-top and field simulation exercise on foot and mouth disease (FMD) is taking place in the Laboratory of the Biological Institute and in holdings of the municipality of Cariacica, State of Espírito Santo, from 3 to 6 December 2012.

The exercise is focusing on the actions to take in case of notifications of vesicular diseases. It is part of the continuous training process of the official veterinarians of the state of Espírito Santo as well as the compliance with the guidelines stated in the National Programme for the Eradication and Prevention of FMD.
