Simulation exercise: Foot and mouth disease in New-Zealand

Dr Allen Bryce, National Manager, Surveillance and Response, Animal Biosecurity, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF), New Zealand, has informed the OIE that a simulation exercise on a hypothetical foot and mouth disease outbreak will take place in his country on Thursday 19 December 2002 (this disease has never occurred in New Zealand).

It is a desk-top exercise designed as a training tool to enhance interactions between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) and other key government agencies involved in emergency responses.
