Simulation exercise: Foot and mouth disease in Peru-5

Dr Janios Miguel Quevedo Valle, Director General of Animal Health, National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA), Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Peru, informed the OIE that several field simulation exercises on foot and mouth disease will take place in Peru, at the following dates and places:

•  from 8 to 12 September 2014 in the town of Trujillo, province of La Libertad
•  from 29 September to 3 October 2014 in the town of Arequipa
•  from 27 to 31 October in the town of Oxampampa, province of Pasco.

The objective of these simulation exercises is to strengthen management capacities of the adequate and efficient response of a foot and mouth disease occurrence with a view to reducing the economic health impact that could generate from the virus introduction.

These simulation exercises are directed to professionals of the public and private Service. Moreover, professionals from the Ecuadorian Agency of Agro Quality Assurance (AGROCALIDAD) as well as professionals from the National Service of Animal and Plant Health and Food safety of Bolivia (SENASAG) have been invited to participate.
