Simulation exercise: Foot and mouth disease in the Nordic countries

Dr Jorgen Westergaard, on behalf of the Chief Veterinary Officers of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, informed the OIE that the Nordic Countries have jointly agreed to conduct a FMD simulation exercise from 19 to 23 September 2005.

During the exercise simulated FMD suspicions and/or simulated FMD outbreaks will occur in the countries mentioned above.

The overall objective of the simulation exercise is to test the Nordic contingency plans for the control of FMD and furthermore to enhance and coordinate inter-Nordic cooperation during disease outbreaks.
