Simulation exercise: Highly pathogenic avian influenza in Benin

14 and 15 March

Dr. Yao Akpo, Director of Livestock, Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Benin, Cotonou, informed the OIE that a table-top simulation exercise on highly pathogenic avian influenza will take place on 14 and 15 March 2019 in Bohicon, Benin.

This simulation exercise is organised by the Veterinary Services with the support of the FAO*. The exercise aims to assess, following its update, the effectiveness of the Integrated contingency plan against highly pathogenic avian influenza with the parties concerned.

The specific objectives are the following:

  •  Reinforce the capacities of parties at various levels in the implementation of the Integrated contingency plan;
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses;
  • Evaluate the capacity of organization and multi-sectors coordination.


This exercise will gather around fifty participants including managers from Veterinary Services, from Human Health, Environment, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of economy and finance as well as the representatives of poultry producers.
