Simulation exercise: Highly pathogenic avian influenza in Kenya

Dr Peter Maina Ithondeka, Director of Veterinary Services, Ministry of Livestock development of Kenya informed the OIE that the EAC(*) Secretariat and FAO-ECTAD(**) in conjunction with the Veterinary Services of Kenya and Uganda organise a field simulation exercise on highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). This exercise is taking place in Busia (Kenya/Uganda border) from 26 to 29 April 2010.

This simulation exercise will help the regional states Contingency plans and Rapid Response protocols to ascertain their capability during disease outbreak intervention activities.
