Simulation exercise: Infection with avian influenza viruses in Peru

Dr Janios Miguel Quevedo Valle, Director General of Animal Health, National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA), Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Peru, informed the OIE that a field simulation exercise on infection with avian influenza viruses will take place in the city of Lima, Peru from 29 to 31 October 2014.

The objective of this simulation exercise is to strengthen management capacities of the adequate and efficient response of an occurrence of infection with avian influenza viruses with a view to reducing the economic health impact that could generate from the virus introduction.

This simulation exercise is directed to professionals of the Public Service and will include the participation of the private sector.
