Dr Mark Schipp, Chief Veterinary Officer, Department of Agriculture, Canberra, Australia, has informed the OIE that a table-top simulation exercise on Pacific oyster mortality syndrome (POMS) will take place at Port Lincoln, in the State of South Australia on 25 October 2013.

The exercise will involve about 25 participants from the Department of Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA), South Australian industry, local council and emergency services, and the Australian Government Department of Agriculture.

The aim of this simulation exercise is to assess potential impacts and vulnerabilities with respect to a Pacific oyster mortality syndrome incursion in South Australia, including consideration of control options.
