Simulation exercise: Selected OIE-Listed diseases in Romania

Dr Niculae Lazar, Acting Director General, National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority of Romania, informed the OIE that a table-top simulation exercise on selected OIE-Listed diseases, named “The worst-case scenario” is taking place in Bucharest, Romania, on 28 March 2012.

The main objective of this simulation exercise is to test the contingency plans concerning decisions regarding a simultaneous evolution of several outbreaks of selected OIE-Listed diseases (e.g. African swine fever, avian influenza, bluetongue, foot and mouth disease and Newcastle disease) on the Romanian territory.

Heads of the ministries and authorities who are part of the Making Decision Unit of the National Disease Control Centre (NDCC) will participate to this exercise.
