Simulation exercise: West Nile Fever in the Nordic-Baltic countries

Dr Eivind Liven, on behalf of the Nordic-Baltic Veterinary Contingency Group (Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania), informed the OIE that a table top simulation exercise on West Nile Fever involving the central veterinary authorities in the 8 countries will take place on 3 June 2009.

The purpose of the exercise is to test trans-border communication.

An outbreak of West Nile Fever at a horse centre in Denmark will be simulated: “The centre has arranged an international horse show with participants from the other countries in the region”.

Disease in humans will also be simulated.
