Epidemiology
Source of the outbreak(s) or origin of infection
  • Unknown or inconclusive
  • Investigation on-going
Epidemiological comments The epidemiological investigation is continuing. According to the foot-and-mouth-disease containment plan, to this day 19 bovines have been killed and disposed of: the 18 bovines initially identified and a calf born during the stamping out process. To this day, within the framework of epidemiological surveillance activities, 138 farms have been inspected, i.e. a total population of 874 bovines, 174 sheep and 13 goats. The animals are subjected to individual examination of mouth cavity, udders and hoofs: 533 serological samples have been taken in the farms located within the zone around the outbreaks. Quarantine measures are maintained and the origin of the introduction of the virus is being investigated.
