Epidemiological comments The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services (APHIS) continue to conduct epidemiological investigations of these outbreaks. Enhanced surveillance and testing is ongoing. September 2, 2019 update: Virulent Newcastle disease virus was detected in chickens housed at a facility that produces antibodies. The chickens at the facility were depopulated. The premises will be cleaned then fallowed for a minimum of 120 days.
