Epidemiological comments 1. The 58th affected farm (Uruma city in Okinawa) On March 10th, the official veterinarians of LHSC conducted active surveillance (blood sampling) targeting the farms located within radius of 3 km from the 57th affected farm. RT-PCR for CSFV was conducted at the LHSC and it was found to be positive on March 12nd. The Vaccination in domestic pigs are practiced in the following prefectures, Aichi, Chiba, Fukui, Gifu, Gunma, Ibaraki, Ishikawa, Kanagawa, Kyoto, Mie, Nagano, Nara, Niigata, Okinawa, Saitama, Shiga, Shizuoka, Tochigi, Tokyo, Toyama, Yamanashi. Note 2: When CSF outbreaks happen, Japan implement movement restrictions in the Shipment Restriction Zone (SRZ), which is established within 3-10 km radius of the affected farm, and in the Movement Restriction Zone (MRZ), which is established within 3km radius of the affected farm. SRZ will be lifted when all the results of active surveillance program are negative, and 17 days have passed after the completion of full implementation of control measures (stamping out, disinfection etc.). MRZ will be lifted when all the results of active surveillance program are negative, and 28 days have passed after the completion of full implementation of control measures (stamping out, disinfection etc.).
