Affected population On the First of April 2020, the owner of the holding submitted samples to the laboratory due to an increased mortality in the broiler holdings. Because the birds were vaccinated against Newcastle disease, the suspicion has been raised for the presence of Mycoplasma. Since the results were negative, further laboratory investigations determined the presence of Newcastle disease. Laboratory results were provided on 8 April 2020. Samples had been sent to the EU Reference Laboratory which confirmed the results on 22 April 2020.

Affected population In the course of the investigation in the first outbreak it was confirmed that one employee was keeping poultry, in a backyard holding, which exhibited clinical signs and increased mortality. The birds were sampled and laboratory results confirmed Newcastle disease.
