Epidemiological comments Until May, 27th all 5 commercial pig farms situated within a range of 5 km from the animal shelter in the Canton of Neuchâtel have been tested for porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PPRS). Representative sampling of about 850 animals from this pig population revealed negative results for antibodies against PRRS virus as well as for viral RNA. Furthermore, all porcine animals at the Clinic for Swine, Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern have been tested twice for PRRS with negative results.
