Epidemiological comments |
A great egret (Ardea alba) was found dead on the 22nd of December 2020 in Komárom-Esztergom county around the locality of Szomód. The bird was sent to the National Reference Laboratory where the H5N8 was confirmed by PCR. The sequencing could be performed only on the 6th of January, thereby the highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N8 was confirmed on this date. |
