Rabies (Domestic) - NOTE:
Whereas earlier editions of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code were not restrictive on the causative agents of infection with rabies virus, and classical rabies was last detected in domestic animals in 03/1982 and in wildlife in 04/1981 in Denmark, since the twenty first edition, infection with rabies virus is defined as ‘a disease caused by one member of the Lyssavirus genus: the Rabiesvirus (formerly referred to as classical rabies virus, genotype-1);’. Therefore, any reference to infection with rabies virus in Denmark prior to 2013 may include other causative agents of rabies disease and therefore dates of last occurrence of the infection with rabies virus have been modified as appropriate.
