The database was created in 1993 to allow better access to the publications of the OIE. It is now accessible on the OIE website in a friendlier version that makes research easy by using key words. Around 6,380 documents are listed:

- Monographs published by the OIE
- Periodicals of the OIE, among which :

      · Articles from the Scientific and Technical Review since its creation in 1981
      · OIE Health Standards
      · Technical items submitted to the World Assembly of Delegates

- Reports from General Sessions
- Resolutions and guidelines adopted by Regional Commissions and the International Committee (World Assembly of Delegates) since 1924
- Reports from Specialist Commissions and Regional Commissions conferences, Working Groups and Ad hoc Groups
- Conference proceedings and reports from seminars, workshops, consultations, training courses, missions and meetings organised by the OIE or jointly with other organisations
- Documents coming from Regional Representations.

Older publications such as the Bulletin from 1927 to 1981, former editions of the Code and Manual, World Animal Health, as well as articles published in the Scientific and Technical Review between 1981 and 2000 have been digitalised in 2009 and 2010. They will be added to the database gradually until all documents derived from the work of our organisation since its creation are made available.
